Environmental Conservation emphasizes the need to put into consideration the survival of future generations. This is another approach towards encouraging sustainable development across the nation especially in a country where crude oil exploration is the most important revenue generating venture. Conservation can only be possible where participation is adopted. To participate means to contribute to an idea, initiative or action. There must be the willingness to help. Choices and preferences on quality of life and lifestyle are made at the community, household and individual levels. Volunteering to campaign for conservation of environmental resources comes with positive benefits for both the volunteers and the community.

This was the focus of a sensitization program organized by Green Touch Nigeria, an Environmental Awareness Group, in collaboration with YALI Network in remembrance of the late human right activist, Nelson Mandela, as the world celebrates his 100th Birthday. Though late, Mandela's legacy of oneness and negotiation still breathes.
The event began with a brief walk through the sanctuary, followed by an interactive session. The discussion focused on three topics: Importance of Community Participation, Volunteering, Environmental Conservation.
In his presentation

Interactive session..
Mr. Opeyemi Feyintola, a volunteer speaker, highlighted Community Participation as the readiness on the part of both local governments and the citizens to accept equal responsibilities in managing their surrounding.
Mr Victor Ndukwe, the second speaker, employed the audience to see Volunteering as the most rewarding thing to do as its benefits are numerous.
The Talk was concluded by the coordinator, Ndubuisi okezie-okeh. He presented Environment Conservation as the real insurance cover for the future. It is anything done to protect and save natural resources. Conservation, he assures Nigerians, would ensure sustainable development if enforced
