Science has made it possible for us to make successful predictions of events before they happen. Data can now be collected from remote sources with less human presence needed and interpreted for policy making. What we do with the results of our numerous researches depends on the political structure in place.

Politics is a major hindrance to successful implementation of environmental protection policies. It is largely responsible for the delays in the mitigation and eradication of environmental disasters. Major polluters are hardly held responsible for their actions. If they can settle out of court they can as well enjoy tax cuts. So who pays for their crime? The poor of course. Because they may never afford to sue for damages they will live with the impacts. One agency that would have stood in the gap for the poor should have been the United Nations. It appears the organization is only active in areas where the political powers are interested in. At the end most dangerous researches done end up abandoned halfway.
